Orientation on Earthquake Risk Reduction and Preparedness to School Teachers
On January 18, 2026, Earthquake Safety Solutions (ESS) conducted an orientation on earthquake risk reduction and preparedness for teachers of Brihaspati Vidya Sadan School, Maligaun, Kathmandu. Around 100 teachers participated in the session.
Topics covered: Causes and effects of earthquakes in Nepal, non-structural mitigation, earthquake preparedness before, during, and after an earthquake, safe evacuation and assembly procedures, and basics of fire safety.
Brihaspati Vidya Sadan has been proactive in empowering both teachers and students through regular orientations, training, and emergency evacuation drills, encouraging a culture of safety and preparedness.
ESS continues to support schools in building earthquake resilient communities through seismic vulnerability assessment of school infrastructures, retrofitting of school buildings, awareness programs and practical training initiatives to teachers and students.
