Retrofitting of Kaasthamandap Vidhyalaya, Kathmandu

The existing retrofit design drawings were reviewed; while reviewing, it was observed that the previous design was done without a seismic joint even though the length-to-width ratio was high. Therefore, the building is redesigned by introducing seismic joints to avoid the torsional effect that may rise due to the high length-to-width ratio. By re-designing the system, we could also minimize the overall cost of implementation by 12%. Therefore, the revised design was used for Implementation with the approval from school management.
